Abstract

1376783 Polyolefin blends MONTECATINI EDISON SpA 22 Feb 1972 [26 Feb 1971] 8222/72 Headings C3G and C3P Binary polyolefin blends compise (1) 20 to 80 parts by weight of a propylene homopolymer or copolymer with up to 20 weight per cent of ethylene having an intrinsic viscosity of 4 to 9 dl./g. and (2) 80 to 20 parts by weight of polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity of 0À5 to 3 dl./g. and a density of 0À95 to 0À97 g./c.c. The polyethylene may contain from 1 to 3 weight per cent of propylene units. The blends may be extruded to form films, and injection-moulded and blow-moulded to form bottles. Examples describe compositions comprising polyethylene, phenolic antioxidant, calcium stearate and (1-3) polypropylene and (4) polypropylene with 3À7 weight per cent of grafted polyethylene.
