Abstract

1376752 Electro-physical measurements ZELLWEGER USTER Ltd 19 Jan 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 2624/72 Headings G1A and G1N [ Also in Division D1] In yarn cleaning apparatus, the outputs of various yarn cleaners, which may be capacitive or optical, are channelled via amplifiers 1, 1"...1<SP>n</SP>, switches 2...2<SP>n</SP> and resistors 3...3<SP>n</SP>, to a common input 4 to a comparator 7, which can compare the output of a selected monitor (selected by closing its respective switch 2) with an adjustable reference voltage produced by the comparator (defining when a cleaning operation is to be initiated, but chosen in dependence on the yarn count to be processed) and, if necessary, cause adjustment of the amplification factor of all the amplifiers, via regulator 8 and lead 9. While the input voltage is equal to the reference voltage, a lamp 12 is lit, but deviations in either direction requiring adjustment of the amplifiers cause lamps 13 or 14 to be lit or alternatively indications on meter 15. The comparator input voltage is smoothed by capacitor 5. The system is designed to cope with changes which might occur in yarn count, as manufacture progresses, a fresh comparison being carried out (by closing of the respective switch 2) each time a yarn is inserted and a winding station started up.
