880,023. Examining glass photo-electrically. SPIEGELGLASWERKE GERMANIA A.G. May 29, 1958 [July 3, 1957], No. 17226/58. Class 40(3). In apparatus for examining prestressed glass, light from a source 4 passes through a lens 5, polariser 7, glass sheet 8, analyser 9 crossed with the polariser, a rotary scanning disc 11 and apertured plate 13, and lens 15 on to a photo-cell 16. The photo-cell has associated with it an amplifier and a filter which passes abnormal fluctuations of output and operates an alarm. The alarm circuit includes a contact closed by another photo-cell when the glass sheet 8 is in position. The scanning disc has radial or outwardly extending spiral slots.
