Abstract

899,957. Electric selective signalling systems; optical sound reading apparatus. ADVANCE COMPONENTS Ltd. Dec. 20, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 44016/59. Classes 40 (1) and 40.(2). The indications of one or more meters are optically projected on to a ground glass screen 1, Fig. 1, and each character has projected immediately below it an optically recorded audio signal corresponding to the character. Thus by scanning the screen 1 by a photo-electric cell assembly 5, and suitably amplifying and replaying the output signals, supervisory personnel can be made aware of the instrument readings without having to look. If a printed record of the meter readings is required appropriate telegraphic-type signals can be projected on to the screen either alongside, or in place of, the audio signals.
