Abstract

The written or drawn information is transmitted via telephonic cables to a remote display instrument providing large screen information for the general public. Fibre optics are employed to provide coupling between document and the reading or writing system. The copying instrument (1) comprises an optical head (2) which reads or writes on a document (3). The head is moved by an electric motor (6) which drives a pulley (7) and belt (8). A coloured (13, 14) graduated rule (12) across the document is read by an assembly (15) on the head. These signals are used to control reading or writing by the head (2). The head thereby reads or writes in lines across and down the document.
