Abstract

1376621 Transistor gain control arrangements POST OFFICE 26 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 3482/71 Heading H3T A gain-controlling voltage is applied from terminal 8 to the emitter of transistor T1, which is in common-emitter circuit for signals applied to terminal 1. The emitter circuit of transistor T1 includes diode-connected transistors T3, T4 the voltage across which is applied to the base of a further transistor T2, the collector of which is connected to the collector of transistor T1. Resistor 13 in the emitter circuit of transistor T2 is chosen so that the change in collector current in this transistor compensates for the change in collector current in the transistor T1 as the gain control voltage is varied. Transistors T3, T4 provide temperature compensation.
