Abstract
1337560 Automatic gain control THOMSONCSF 30 Oct 1972 [2 Nov 1971] 50007/72 Heading H3T In an automatic gain control circuit, signal Ie is applied to the commoned emitters of transistors Q1, Q2, which are supplied with standing current by means of a constant current D.C. source 4. An output is taken from the collector of transistor Q2, via a capacitor C, which also feeds an automatic gain control generator 10 which feeds a gain-controlling voltage to the base of transistor Q2. The change in standing current in transistor Q2 produces a voltage change across resistor R2, which is decoupled for A.C. signal by capacitor C1; this voltage change is amplified by an amplifier comprising transistors Q3, Q4 in long-tailed pair connection, resulting in a current which is fed back from the collector of transistor Q3 to the emitter of transistor Q2 to compensate for the change in standing current therein.
