Abstract

1376299 Chain conveyer SOC DES ACIERS FINS DE L'EST 9 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57324/71 Heading B8A A chain conveyer has a central body carrying a motor and reduction gearing to which is coupled a driving shaft which supports a driving sprocket; a frame structure supporting the shaft, motor and reduction gearing; idler sprockets and chain tensioning devices mounted symmetrically on either side of the shaft; interchangeable chain support elements and an adjustable support for the assembly. In Fig. 1, tripod T is adjustable in height and supports a central body C and a motor and reduction gearing unit M, arms B 1 and B 2 of selected lengths being mounted on the body C. A conveyer chain 7a, 7b, driven by a sprocket mounted on the driving shaft coupled to the motor, extends round idler sprockets at the extreme ends of arms B 1 , B 2 . The chain tensioning devices each comprise a bellcrank lever 56 having unequal arms, the short arm being connected to a tension spring 67 and the far end of the long arm being mounted for movement in a vertical notch 64, see Fig. 4, as the lever 56 pivots. The chain is supported on a sprocket mounted on this far end of the long arm, and the lever 56 pivots to take up the slack and tension the chain (see Fig. 4).
