Abstract

1374866 Moulding pallets BNANIA 12 April 1972 [13 April 1971 22 June 1971 17 July 1971] 16978/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] Plastics pallets are formed by driving wooden reinforcing slots on to pins extending from one of the mould walls, simultaneously introducing pre-expanded plastics and steam into the mould and cooling. As shown in Fig. 1, the apparatus comprises a base-plate 11 with mould parts 12, 13, with pins 14 being screwed at 15 and held by nuts 16 into the base-plate 11 and extending through apertures 17 in mould part 12 to support wooden slots 18. The mould 10 is filled with pre-expanded plastics, e.g. polystyrene 19. The slats 18 preferably have a sawtooth profile to increase adhesion to the plastics. The article (20, Fig. 3, not shown) has a flat upper surface (21) with slats (18) perpendicular to supporting ridges (22-24), which may have holes (25, Fig. 4, not shown) to reduce weight.
