Abstract

1374783 Refrigeration KOMBINAT LUFTUND KALTETECHNIK VEB 15 Dec 1971 58155/71 Heading F4H [Also in Division F1] In a multi-cylinder refrigerant compressor wherein the output is controlled by preventing closure of the inlet valves 17 of individual cylinders 5 by means of lifting pins 30, each pin 30 is movable by a control piston 29 when liquid refrigerant is fed to its cylinder 20 through a channel 23. Some of the liquid fed to the cylinders 20 leaks past the pistons 29 into the suction chamber 14 of its working cylinder. Evaporation of this refrigerant inhibits overheating of the volume of gas which flows to-andfro through the open inlet valve. Refrigerant is supplied to the channels 23 through axial ducts 24 in one screw 13 which clamp the cylinder 5, a valve guard 6, a valve seat 7 and a guide member 11 to the crankcase 1. The supply of liquid refrigerant to the cylinders 20 is controlled by magnetic or manual valves in branch lines from the refrigeration system's condenser. The magnetic valves may be controlled by a thermostat, or, if the compressor is in an air conditioning plant, by a moisture measuring instrument.
