Abstract
1374557 Corona charging device EASTMAN KODAK CO 25 May 1973 [25 May 1972] 25145/73 Heading G2H The device comprises a flexible wire 10 depending freely from a support 12 with its free end 13 spaced from a conductive control electrode 17 which, in use, is positioned over a dielectric surface S to be charged. The wire 10 is sufficiently flexible and its spacing from the electrode 17 is such, that it is deflectable when a potential is applied to it so that it oscillates randomly to uniformly charge the whole surface S. The control electrode 17 may be a grid 18 or a closed loop (30) of conductive material. The fixed end 11 of the wire 10 is connected to a high voltage source 15 and the electrode 17 is electrically biased, either by connection to an external source (not shown) or by being connected to ground via Zener diode 20, to the desired level of charge potential of the surface S.
