Abstract
1374302 Microbiological production of acetic acid EXPERIMENTALNY PISCHEKOMBINAT IMENI 25-LET OKTYABRYA 4 Nov 1971 51265/71 Heading C6E Anguillula aceti are cultivated in a nutrient liquid containing acetic acid bacteria to form a cultural liquid which is used after addition of ethanol for aerolically cultivating acetic acid bacteria, the resulting acetic acid being separated from the biomass. The biomass may be recycled for further cultivation of Anguillula aceti, whose culture medium may also contain ethanol. The medium for cultivating acetic acid bacteria alone may comprise 2À5-10% w/w ethanol 0À005- 0À05% ammonium phosphate, 0À01-0À025% potassium phosphate, 0À005-0À0125% magnesium phosphate or sulphate and 5-50% of the product of Anguillula aceti cultivation containing 5-8% acetic acid. The cultivation of Anguillula aceti may be effected aerobically at 20-30‹C in a chamber containing wood chips in contact with a nutrient liquid containing 1À5-4À5% ethanol and 5-8% acetic acid. The cultivation of acetic acid bacteria may be performed continuously in a series of submerged cultivation chambers, the last of which is at 25‹C, the others being at 29-32‹C. The biomass may be foamed and blown from the acetic acid in the last chamber.
