Abstract

1373624 Bed sheets DHA ANAX PTY Ltd and NJ BONNIN 19 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 49836/70 Heading A4S [Also in Division A5] A transport for a patient comprises a substantially rectangular sheet 1 and a stretcher including side rails (9), figure 3 (not shown), to engage and tension the sheet, the sheet being formed of woven fabric having threads positioned at acute angles relative to the length of the sheet and engaged at the edges of the sheet on a flexible peripheral reinforcement (6) figures 1 and 6 (not shown), the sheet engaging, at positions spaced from the reinforcement, attachment means 8 on the side rails at spaced intervals. The arrangement is such that the combination of the spacing of attachment buttons 8 and the angular position of the threads enables at least one end of each thread to engage the reinforcement (6) whereby the sheet can deform to the shape of the patient due to deformation of the reinforcement. The edges of the sheet, which may be of a polyester material, are hemmed and the reinforcement in the form of a cord (6) extends around the sheet within the hems. Buttonholes (7) are formed in the hems on the longitudinal sides of the sheet and are adapted to engage the attachment buttons 8. A triangular gusset of material having the threads of the cloth running parallel to the edges of the sheet is provided for support at each end.
