1373450 Dobbies L AMIGUES 9 Nov 1972 [17 Feb 1972] 51655/72 Heading DIE Each jack shaft 15 in an open shed loom is connected to a control roller 12 engaging a cam 2 which is selectively coupled to a common shaft 1, which is cyclically rotated through 180‹, by a slidable cotter 5 controlled by one of two fingers 7 responsive to a pattern reading member 9 or is held stationary by the one finger. The cam 2 has a first groove 2a in which is mounted the flange, having opposed cutouts 4b for the cotter 5, of a ring 4 also having a tongue 4a engaging a key way 1a on the shaft 1, a second groove for the nose 7a of each finger 7 and a radial opening 2c for the cotter. In operation when the shaft 1 stops the nose 7a of the corresponding finger 7, in response to the pattern reading member 9, either remains in position with the cotter urged by springs 6 into the corresponding cut out 4b so that the cam rotates when next the shaft rotates, (Fig. 4, not shown) or engages the edge of the opening 2c to hold the cam stationary when the shaft rotates (Fig. 5). The arrangement described with two rollers 12 mounted in a cradle 10 actuates a positive dobby. Alternatively two separate cams control the movements of each heald frame (Fig. 9, not shown) or a single roller mounted at the end of an arm is coupled to a non-positive dobby (Fig. 8, not shown).
