Abstract

1373371 Valves KOMATSU SEISAKUSHO KK 19 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48645/71 Heading F2V A housing for a directional change-over spool valve in which a spool 3 and flow control means 2 and 10 are replaceable to provide a parallel, tandem or series circuit comprises a valve body 1 with a box having three sets 4, 5, 6 of grooves each having a principal groove and two lateral grooves and passages whereby groove 4 1 is connected to an internal chamber which receives the flow control means and a surface 1 1 , grooves 5 1 and 6 1 are connected to ports 8 and 9 respectively, both grooves 4 2 are connected to the surface opposite surface 1 1 , grooves 5 2 and 6 2 connect to the internal chamber and grooves 5 3 and 6 3 and the internal chamber are connected to the surface 1 1 and the opposite surface. A parallel circuit is described with reference to Figs. 1-3 where the internal chamber contains a cylinder 10 which blocks communication between the chamber and groove 4 1 and a check valve 2 which controls flow from the chamber via passages 20, 21 to grooves 5 2 , 6 2 . Fluid flows as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 for one position of the. spool. Movement of the spool through neutral to a third position reverses the flow with respect to the motor 27. Figure 4 illustrates an embodiment where the internal chamber contains a cylinder 10<SP>1</SP> open to the groove 4 1 but blocks off communication between the chamber and the opposite surfaces for operation of a tandem circuit. Fluid enters to groove 4 1 and flows as shown. Figure 6 illustrates an embodiment where the cylinder is the same as 10 1 but no check valve is provided in the chamber. The spool, however, is provided with passages 28, 29, apertures 31, 32, 33, 34, and check valves 30. Fluid flows through the valve as indicated.
