Abstract

1373113 Timing ignition REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 4 Nov 1971 [5 Nov 1970] 51383/71 Heading F1B An ignition timing device for an internal combustion engine comprises an induction manifold 5 for the air/fuel mixture, an ignition distributer 1, at least one vacuum diaphragm capsule. 2 for controlling the ignition advance and/or retard of the distributer, the/or each capsule being connected to the induction manifold, and includes a solenoid - operated valve 4 interposed between the/or each vacuum capsule and the engine induction manifold, an intermediate chamber 6 for the induction mixture, a member limiting the delivery of mixture and connecting the intermediate chamber to the induction manifold and a deferred-action pressure-responsive electric switch 8 connected to the induction manifold and to the intermediate chamber and adapted to act in one or other direction as a function of the variation in a differential pressure applied to the switch when there is a pressure variation in the manifold and/or in the intermediate chamber so as to close during a time period determined rotably by the lmiting member and/or the chamber at least one electric circuit controlling the corresponding solenoid-operated valve. The intermediate chamber may be variable in volume. An embodiment including two vacuum capsules is described.
