1373110 Measuring organic pollution EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 7 Dec 1971 [4 Jan 1971] 56762/71 Heading G1N The organic impurity content, e.g. oil, of a fluid sample is determined by mixing the fluid with an organic solvent, e.g. methylene chloride, and placing a quantity on a crystal in an oscillator. The change in frequency after the solvent has vaporized is a measure of the mass impurity content, and is determined by comparison with a similar crystal doped with the solvent only.
