Abstract

1372902 Fuel injection pumps DELMAGVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH, [trading as DELMAG-MASCHINENFABRIK REINHOLD DORNFELD] 2 Nov 1972 [6 Nov 1971] 50550/72 Heading F1A A fuel injection pump for injecting fuel into the cylinder of a Diesel pile driver comprises a lever 22 having a first arm 42 for operating a pumping piston 50 and a second arm 44 urged by a spring 60 towards a stop member 90, 92, the member 90, 92 being adjustable by a cam 80 thereby to adjust the stroke of the piston 50. The lever 22 performs an anti-clockwise pivoting movement when the ram piston (not shown) of the pile driver contacts the lever arm 42 and urges it into a slot 20 in the ram cylinder 18. Thus fuel admitted to the pumping cylinder 64 through an inlet 66 is delivered to the cylinder 18 through valves 70, 74. A cable 28 is displaced to rotate a pulley 82 and hence the cam 80. A ratchet wheel 84 movable with the pulley 82 and the cam 80 is engaged by a pair of pawls 86 to maintain the cam in one of a number of predetermined positions. The cam 80 is provided with a projection (100) so that manual pulling of the cable 28 causes the lever 22 to displace the piston 50 and inject fuel for starting purposes when the ram piston is out of contact with the lever.
