1371871 Caps for bottles SEIDEL KG Gebr 23 May 1972 [11 June 1971] 24199/72 Heading B8T A tear-off cap has a rolled edge 1 for engagement beneath a protuberance around a container neck and a line of weakness 2 located just above the edge 1 and having a cut-out portion laterally offset from or contiguous with an incision in the edge 1. A gripping tab for use in detaching the edge 1 is made by inserting a plastics or metal strip through the cut-out portion in the line 2 and fixing the ends together and to the cap at 10 leaving a free end 11 which may be retained in a recess in the top wall 12. The cap may be reused by snapping the remaining skirt over the protuberance around the container. Alternatively the skirt may be screw threaded.
