Abstract
1371402 Oxidation of carbon monoxide KACHITA CO Ltd 26 Jan 1972 3615/72 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Carbon monoxide contained in moist air is oxidized by first passing through a dessicant to dry the air, secondly through a catalyst of natural zeolite nickel with an equal @@@@@@ a mixture of MnO2 and CuO in an amount of 70 : 30 by wt. to oxidize the CO to CO2 and finally through a second dessicant. The dessicant, which may be silica gel, active alumina or natural zeolite is regenerated by passing dry air through it, so operation is such that when the first dessicant becomes saturated the flow is reversed through the three systems, thereby causing dry air to flow through the saturated dessicant and thus regenerate it. The dessicant may be replaced by the catalyst mixture, in which the natural zeolite behaves as the dessicant.
