1371247 Making spectacle patterns WERNICKE & CO KG 10 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 6327/72 Heading G2J [Also in Division E2] Apparatus for clamping a spectacle frame on a flat support 1 comprises a plurality of frameretaining means 2 each consisting of a strip member 7 slidable on the support towards and away from an opening 5 in the support with other parts of the frame retaining means mounted on the member and comprising one jaw 18 which is movable towards and away from the member, and a further jaw 14, the jaws being pivotable together about a horizontal axis Z generally parallel to the member and clamping means for clamping the frame between the jaws, clamping the jaws against rotating about the horizontal axis and clamping the member to the support. As shown, each retaining means comprises a double arm 22 pivotally carrying at respective ends thereof a trunnion 20 for a screw 13 and a sleeve 17 in which is slidable as spigot 16 carrying the jaw 18, the spigot being integral with a rod 11 carrying the jaw 14 and disposed in a V-groove 8 in a flat plate 7 secured to the support plate 1 by clamps 32, 33 which allow limited lateral play of the plate. A spring 30 urges the jaws apart. After locating a lens frame 6 between the jaws, rotation of the screw 13 causes the jaws 14, 18 to grip the frame, the rod 11 having been previously rotated about the axis Z to the desired adjusted position, guiding of the rod being effected by an arcuate part 26 of a yoke 24 accommodated in a recess 27 in the arm 22. There a four retaining means mounted on the plate 1 which may be disposed vertically or horizontally; the central opening 5 in the plate allows the scribing of a lens aperture in the frame 6.
