Abstract
1371002 Fixing toner images RICOH KK 7 Feb 1973 [9 Feb 1972 1 March 1972] 6006/73 Heading G2H [Also in Division F2] A heater roller 2 (for a device for fixing toner images P on a sheet 1 passing between the roller 2 and another roller 3) comprises a core 4 encircled by a plurality of layers 17, 18, 19 of resilient material. The roller 2 may be heated either electrically by a coil 5 round a glass rod 6, or by passing an electric current through the layer 17, which is rendered conductive, or by electrical heating. Each layer 18, 19 may be both softer and thinner than the layer beneath. The layers may be of silicone rubber, as may be the roller 3, or the outer layer may be of silicone resin, and the inner layer 17 may be of rubber with an electrical resistivity of less than 10<SP>8</SP># cm. due to the inclusion of 30 to 50% carbon powder, and may be fillers such as silica. Fe, Ti, Cd, Co, and red oxide or other pigment may be included.
