Abstract

1370529 Ruthenium Oxide Electrode ELECTRONOR CORP 5 April 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 15687/72 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C7 and B2] An electrode coating comprises a mixture of a polymer and a RuO2 electrocatalyst having a particle size less than 0À1 micron. The substrate may be sheet, rod, mesh or expanded metal. It may be made of steel, Ni, Ti, Ta, Zr, Nb, Pb, Pb/Sb alloy or Pb/Tl alloy or it may be a non-conductive ceramic material. The finely divided RuO2 is produced by dissolving RuCl3 in an acid solution, treating with a base then reacidifying to pH 6 to 65 the resulting suspension may be washed with water, dried at 100‹ C. and fired at a temperature less than 500‹ C.
