[Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A powder metal catalyst is made by melting an alloy comprising: Ni 25-47.5 parts by weight Al 27.5-72.5 Fe 2.5-25 solidifying it, comminuting it and leaching the aluminium out with an acidic or caustic alkali soluton. The iron preferably comprises 15-25% of the total iron plus nickel in the alloy. The catalysts may be used in hydrogenation processes but are particularly suitable for powder electrodes in fuel cells or electrolysers.
