1370153 Vehicle washing apparatus KONELAMMINEN KY 29 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 45316/71 Heading B7J A car washing machine comprises a movable portal-like body 1, 2 having a substantially vertical rotary brush 4 at each side and a horizontal rotary brush 3, the substantially vertical brushes 4 being mounted for transverse movement along a guide 13, to press against car surfaces to be washed, and devices 14 adapted to control the movements of the brushes 4 and the machine in response to the contact pressure of the brushes 4 against the car surfaces. Such devices 14 roll or slide within the guide 13. One such device 14, Fig. 3, comprises a lever 16, 17 carrying two rollers 19, 20 of differing sizes which are urged into contact with guiding surfaces 22, 21 of the guide 13 by springs 24 and 26, and a magnetic limit switch 23. A brush 4 is linked to each device 14 by an arm 15 which is connected to a brush supporting frame 8. Another frame 5 is articulated to the frame 8 and to the body 1 at 7 and 6 respectively, and acted on by a pneumatic cylinder 10. The extreme outward position of the brush supporting frame structure 5, 8 is defined by a limit switch 27.
