Abstract

681,336. Labelling machines. ERMOLD, CO., E. Dec. 18, 1950. [Dec. 20, 1949] No. 30804/50. Class 73. Wiring means for a labelling machine comprises brushes, one of which is positively rotated during the wiping operation. A brush 12 is mounted on a post 20 attached to an arm 21 pivoted at 22 to a cantilever arm 23 supported on a fixed post 25. A roll 20<SP>1</SP> on the top of the post 20 is engaged by a yoke 26 attached to a slide bar carrier 18 and a radius arm 27 secured to the post 20 is connected by a link 28 to a fixed lug 29. A bottle 10 with a label L held in position by a gripper 14 is advanced in the direction 13 and the slide bar 18 is moved to the left by a crank lever 16 so that the brush 12 moves transversely of the path of the bottle and also has a component of movement with the bottle thus engaging it over a period with constant pressure. At the same time the lever 27 and link 28 causes the brush to be positively rotated anticlockwise. A brush 11 rotatably mounted on a post fixed to a slide 17 is previously advanced transversely to wipe the other side of the label L.
