Abstract
1369937 Rotary positive-displacement engines NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 30 June 1972 [16 July 1971] 30699/72 Heading F1F A rotor and rotor gear assembly 10 for a rotary internal combustion engine of the trochoidal type, comprises a rotor gear 14 mounted on a rotor 12 so that the gear can move relatively to the rotor to accomodate differential thermal expansion between them. The gear 14 has a plurality of bores 34 in which are tightly but rotatably mounted respective cylindrical bushings 36 having eccentric holes 38. Connecting pins extend through holes 38 to connect the gear 14 to the rotor 12. When the rotor is cold, the centres of holes 38 lie on a common circle of radius less than that of the centres of bushings 36 as shown to the left in Fig. 1. Upon thermal expansion of the rotor and gear, the pins 40 rotate the bushings about their centres to the position shown in Fig. 1 to the right, thus accomodating the differential expansion between gear and rotor.
