Abstract
1369791 Friction gearing W J TAYLOR 27 Jan 1972 [28 Nov 19701 56641/70 Heading F2Q [Also in Division G5] In a friction drive arrangement comprising a driving wheel 82 and a driven wheel 80, the driving wheel 82 is secured to the rotor of an electric motor 84 which is mounted on an arm structure 86 pivoted at 88 so that the wheel 82 is movable bodily into and out of engagement with the wheel 80. A solenoid 96 controls engagement of the friction wheels 80, 82. The directions of rotation are such that driving wheel 82 tends to "climb" the driven wheel 80, thereby increasing the frictional grip. A second motor 74 provides a second driving means at a different speed. In a modification, a belt 66 engages a driven pulley 64, a driving pulley 110 adapted to be driven by a motor 74, and a capstan pulley 112 adapted to be driven from a motor 84 through reduction worm gearing 114 and friction wheels 82, 80. A solenoid 96 controls engagement of the friction wheels 82, 80. The mechanism is used to drive a tremolo paddle in an electronic organ.
