Abstract

1369785 Hydrocyclone BIRD MACHINE CO Inc 5 Feb 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5588/73 Heading B2P In a hydrocyclone for separating impurities from paper and pulp slurries, dilution liquid is introduced in a chamber 38 positioned adjacent the body 10 of the hydrocyclone to form an eddy in the chamber which has a smooth wall and a transfer opening 42 which opens into the adjacent portion of the hydrocyclone body whereby the dilution liquid will pass smoothly into the outer vortex formed during operation within the hydrocyclone. The smooth introduction of dilution liquid into the outer vortex entails minimum loss of the liquid into the inner vortex while reducing the loss of acceptable stock through the impurities or rejects outlet 16.
