Abstract

Actuating by motion of ships.-A bilge-pump is carried on a deck or is secured to the ship's framing, and is actuated, when the ship rolls, by a weighted pendulum 1, the lower end of which carries a roller running in a thwartship race 0. The pendulum is secured to a spindle, which is mounted in a standard 4 and carries an arm 2 coupled to the pump-rod by a link 12. This link can be connected to the arm 2 at various points to alter the stroke of the pump.
