Bowden mechanism.-Relates to means for adjusting the length of flexible wires of the Bowden type for controlling internal-combustion engines, bomb-dropping apparatus, and other apparatus. To adjust the projecting ends D, E of the wire G, a portion of the sheath F is removed, and a tube A is fitted over the wire laterally by using a slot a. A bush B having a lateral slot' b<1> is fitted over the wire and slid down into the tube A until a socket H engages the end of a sheath section F. A socketed cap C<1> is inserted between the other end of the tube A and the other sheath section F<1>. The bush B and cap C<1> are turned so that their lateral slots b<1> are out of register with the slot a. The position of the bush B is then adjusted by a screw b projecting through the slot a, and the bush is clamped by a thumb-screw n engaging the edges of the slot a. The other end of the tube A is closed by a cap C<2> fixed to the tube.
