Abstract

1369049 Linkage for strangler shutters SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 30 Sept 1971 [8 Oct 1970] 45670/71 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] A control mechanism for simultaneous control of a plurality of strangler shutters 2 in respective supply pipes of an I.C. engine comprises rotatable shaft sections 1a, 1b, 1c substantially aligned along a single axis and inter-connected by pairs of actuating levers 4, 5 one of which is rigid with its shaft section, the other being adjustably lockable on the adjacent shaft section, the levers 4 and 5 being shaped to fit together with play and at least one resilient member 14 which acts on one end of each of at least one of the shaft sections to close the supply pipes. One of the actuating levers 5 functions as a crank to be driven by a control rod 13. Adjustable abutment members 16 provide for adjustment of the closed position of the corresponding shutter. Two chains of shaft sections on parallel axes may be provided, Fig. 5 (not shown) for an engine with two rows of cylinders, the resilient member being a spring 14 connecting corresponding actuating levers of the respective chains of shaft sections.
