Abstract

1368560 Pipe testing L B FOSTER CO 19 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 13090/73 Heading G1S A cylindrical casing 10 fixed at one end to a plate 12 on a stand 27 is supported at its other end on a trolley B and may be sealed later by an end-cap 23. The casing has rollers 19 at one end so that a tube 50 to be tested may be supported by a jib E and slid on a trolley into sealing engagement with the two end-plates 12, 23 in a centred position surrounding the casing 10. Pipe 13 is then connected to a high-pressure water pump D which delivers water into the annular space 52 until overflow occurs through valve 14. The valve is then closed and pressure built up in the space 52 so that a test may be carried out. The water may be drained off into a sump F for re-use after test and casings 10 of various sizes for different tubes may be provided.
