Abstract

1367520 Abrasive tools SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 19 Nov 1971 53829/71 Heading B3D [Also in Division E1] In a drill bit having mud channels 6, and diamonds 5 set in a single row along each channel and arranged in circles concentric with the axis 13 of the bit so that during use ridges formed between the diamonds of one row are removed by the diamonds of the following row, the cutting edges of each row are arranged in a plane, the rows A ... S are are arranged in pairs (such as A, K), the planes of each pair are parallel and located at the same distance (such as D AK ) from the axis, and the distance is different for each pair. The diamonds are cubes and set in tungsten carbide powder sintered with German silver. A core bit is shown, but the invention may be applied to a full drill bit.
