Abstract

1367401 Microwave ovens MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 14 April 1972 [19 April 1971] 17419/72 Heading H5H [Also in Division E2] A microwave oven 1 has a pivoted door 3, a door handle 9 with a movable member 11, and a door lock bolt 7, operatively associated with member 11 and reciprocable through the end face of the door and a choke cavity 5 therein to cause actuation of a switch 8 in the power supply circuit of the magnetron 16. Gripping the handle 9 causes member 11 to move relative to grip 10, compressing a pantograph mechanism 12 and pivoting an L-shaped lever 13 to cause lock bolt 7 to move downwardly against the force of a spring 14 to allow switch 8 to interrupt the supply circuit. Thus the magnetron is switched off before the door 3 is opened, thereby preventing radiation leakage.
