Abstract

1,128,941. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX Ltd. 3 Jan., 1966 [8 Jan., 1965], No. 59/66. Heading F4H. In a continuous cycle absorption system of the inert gas type in which the generator is heated by either an electric heater or a gas burner, a switch in the electricity supply to the heater and a valve in the gas supply to the burner mechanically interfere to prevent simultaneous operation of the two heat sources. As illustrated, the electric heater is controlled by a toggle switch 58 and the gas burner is controlled by a gas valve having an operating arm 59. A quadrant 60 having a flanged edge 60c is attached to the valve arm 59 and prevents anticlockwise movement of the valve arm from its illustrated closed position by engagement with the switch 58 when the latter is in its illustrated " on " position. When the switch 58 is moved to its " off " position, the arm 59 and quadrant 60 are free to be moved 90 degrees in an anticlockwise direction to open the gas valve. When the gas valve is open the curved edge 60b of the quadrant blocks movement of the switch 58 from its " off " position. In another embodiment, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), the quadrant is omitted and the switch and valve arm directly interfere to prevent simultaneous operation of the two heat sources.
