Abstract

1534771 Latch for oven door J E PALMER 8 April 1976 14321/76 Heading E2A A latch for an oven door comprises a latching member 12 which is rotatable, on pin 13 against spring 19 by door latch 26 during closing, first to the position shown in Fig. 3 when pivotable lever 15 under the action of tensioned spring 19 and via pawl 21 and camming surface 24 urges the latching member 12 to rotate further to the second position as shown in Fig. 4. In this second closed position the door of the oven is held tight, with the latch 26 being forced to the closed position by the latching member. Unlatching of the door is effected by pushbutton 30 which acts on lever 15, similarly as when closing once the latching member has rotated back to the position shown in Fig. 3 spring 19 urges the latching member to rotate further so throwing the door open. Lever 15 may be used to operate a microswitch 6 to provide an electrical interlock to switch off power to the oven before opening.
