Abstract

1367367 Valves IMI OPELLA Ltd 25 May 1973 [12 June 1972] 27255/72 Heading F2V A tap of the axially immovable operating spindle type comprises an operating spindle 33 having an outer cylindrical surface arranged for rotation within a bore 31 of a head nut 18, the head nut heing of composite construction and comprising a first part 19 screw-threadedly engaged with the tap body and a second part 20 welded or glued to the first part, the two parts definining between them a channel 25 which receives an 0-ring seal. The channel may be formed as a recess in the second part 20 and a spigot in the first part 19 (as shown) or a recess wholly in the first part (Fig. 2, not shown) or second part (Fig. 3, not shown).
