Abstract

1366857 Elastic sleeve for tube press filter ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 2 Aug 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 17396/74 Divided out of 1366856 Heading BID [Also in Division F2] An impermeable elastic sleeve for use in a tube press filter as described in Specification 1,366,856, is made of rubber and comprises central cylindrical portion 2 and flared open ends 4 with beads 6, at least one annular protrusion 7 encircling the inner or outer surface of the sleeve. As shown central portion 2 is made by seaming a length of sheet rubber 0.070 inches thick, and cuffs 70-72 are cut from one end of the resulting tube before portion 2 is attached to moulded ends 4. Cuffs 70-72 which form protrusion 7 overlay the joint between portion 2 and lower end 4. Alternatively protrusion 7 could be integral with the sleeve. Details are given of mechanical properties of rubbers from which portion 2 and ends 4 are made. Protrusion 7 extends less than 6% of the sleeve length.
