Abstract
1366143 Driving winding machines BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 1 Sept 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 40700/71 Heading D1J [Also in Division F1] A winding head comprises pneumatically driven means for locking a bobbin onto a chuck 4, displacing a drive roller 3 and pressing it against the bobbin and for braking the chuck shaft, these components of winding head being brought into or out of operation by means of a single starting or stopping impulse acting via a pneumatically operated logic circuit. The circuit is arranged to press the drive roller against the bobbin, release the chuck shaft and tighten the chuck simultaneously in response to the starting impulse. When the stopping impulse is present the drive roller is separated from the bobbin, the chuck shaft is braked, and after rotation of the chuck 'shaft is stopped, the chuck is loosened. Stopping Operation: The winding operation can be switched off by hand at 9.2, by a yarn detector or package guard 9.3, or by the bobbin carrying carriage when the bobbin is full 9.4, by creating pressure stop signal 8.5. This signal causes (a) servo 15.1 and piston 5.2 to lift the driving roller off the bobbin; (b) delay 14.2 and servo 15.4 to apply the brakes 6 to the bobbin chuck 4 after a time lag; and (c) to loosen the bobbin from the chuck 44 when the chuck stops rotation as detected by stoppage detector 6. Starting Operation: Winding is started by switch 9.1 which causes signal 8.8 to vent pressure signal 8.6 so that the bobbin is again locked on the chuck 4, the brakes 6 are released and the cariage carrying the driving roller 3, descends onto the bobbin as air flows out of piston 5. As the carriage descends it actuates switch 9.5 so as to slowly admit lower pressure (2 atm) air to the piston 5 to slow the descent of the carriage. After a delay at 14.1 the signal 8.10 generated by switch 9.5 causes a high pressure (3 atm) to be admitted to piston 5 so as to reduce the contact pressure of the carriage on the bobbin. Bobbin Stoppage Detector: A slotted mask on the chuck shaft 4.1 rotates with the bobbin. Air nozzles 16.2, 16.4 are arranged on either side of the slotted mask so that air passes through the mask, but when the mask rotates, the signal received at nozzles 16.4 is too low to generate a stop signal B. When the mask is stationary, the signal received through the mask at 16.4 passes via throttle 16.5, amplifier 16.6, controls 16.7, 16.9 and generates stop signal B when signal 16.8 is present from the second nozzle 16.4. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 4 and 4a not shown), the stoppage detector comprises a rotating mass (17.2) carried on a screw-threaded portion of the chuck shaft 4.1. The mass (17.2) is coupled to the brake drum (17.3) of the shaft by a helical spring around the shaft. When the brake is applied, the mass (17.2) tends to rotate relative to the brake drum (17.3) against the torque of the spring and during this relative rotation it screws itself along the threaded portion of the shaft to operate switch (17.6) until the shaft, brake drum and mass are at rest. Whilst switch (17.6) is operated (Fig. 4a) reservoir (17.10) is charged and when switch (17.6) is released as the shaft comes to rest, element (17.3) sends signal (17.4) to cause servo (17.15) to emit a 'bobbin stopped' signal. In a further embodiment switch (17.6 see above) is operated during braking of the chuck shaft by a lobe on the brake support. The latter is mounted so as to pivot slightly, when the brakes are applied, see Fig. 5 and 5a not shown. Twin Bobbin Winding Head (Figs. 6 and 6a not shown) two winding chucks can be mounted on a rotatable support so that each in turn is brought into a position to engage with the driving roller. The chucks each comprise a separate half of a clutch and a brake disc which can be operated by a movable drive motor when they are in the non-winding position. The arrest of rotation of the bobbin is by a circuit illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown) wherein a slotted disc rotating with the chuck shaft (4.1) interrupts a pressure signal during rotation of the disc. When the chuck shaft 4 is arrested, a pressure signal (16.8) is released. It is also possible to utilise the build up of pressure in front of nozzles (16.2) when the disc is stationary to generate a 'bobbin stopped' signal.
