Abstract
1365738 Bearings KARL SCHMIDT GmbH 4 Jan 1972 [7 Jan 1971] 324/72 Heading F2A A hydrodynamic bearing comprises two members having engaging bearing surfaces at least one of which is formed with oil holes for communicating with oil reservoirs, and one of the surfaces having a series of separate or interlinked lubricant grooves disposed along the surface. Each groove may be circular, semicircular, lozenge-shaped, elliptical, hexagonal, elongated oval, elongated hexagonal, U-shaped and may have a rectangular, triangular, semicircular or trapezoidal cross-section. The bearing may be a radial, thrust or spherical bearing. The bearing may be made by working the lubricant grooves into the member by rolling with a single or multiple system impression roller punch or by electro-erosion, engraving, etching, machining or electrochemical treatment. The surface having the grooves may be formed in a plastics sheet which is located within a bearing housing.
