Abstract

1365641 Cradles FREMANTLE STEVEDORING CO PTY Ltd 20 Sept 1972 [22 Feb 1972] 8161/72 Heading B8H A drop bottom container for handling bales of wool has a pair of bottom panels 12 hinged at one end to respective side walls of the container and connected by ropes 14 to a spreader 13, itself connected to a lifting rope. A further rope 16 is secured to the container. In operation the container is loaded when the same is deposited on a support surface, the panel 12 being closed. The container is then lifted by the rope 14 until positioned above, e.g. the hold of a ship wherein on further paying out of the rope 14, the container is supported by the rope 16 and the panels 12 pivot to discharge the load.
