Abstract

1365326 Mechanical interrupters ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 5 Nov 1971 [7 Nov 1970] 51460/71 Heading H1N [Also in Division B3] The forming of a support plate 14 mounting of a contact breaker 16 in an ignition housing 10 comprises pressing a plurality of indentations around the periphery of the housing from the outside to form lugs 17, 19 on the inside of the housing. The support plate 14 accommodates a contact breaker plate; the contact breaker 16, which is cam-operated, rotates with a shaft (not shown). Mounting of the plate 14 involves the centring of the housing in a tool by means of bearing bushes 12, 13 inserted into a bearing shaft 10b, placing the plate 14 into the housing which is made of die-cast aluminium, and then forming the centring lugs 17 and support lugs 19 using punches (23), Fig. 2 (not shown) to clamp the plate in position. Lugs 19 are positioned directly below lugs 17 to provide a bearing surface 19b and the plate may be further maintained in position by screwing to two metal clips 24. Apertures can be punched into the housing during the lug-forming operation by additional punches to secure further parts to the housing, e.g. spring clips 25, a capacitor or a manifold (not shown).
