Abstract
1364868 Iron values from acidified zinc sulphate DET NORSKE ZINKKOMPANI AS 20 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 43778/71 Heading C1A Iron values are recovered from sulphuric acid acidified zinc sulphate solutions by treatment of the solutions with Fe2O3 and/or Fe(OH)3 at a temperature of 60-100 C. and a pH of 1-2À5 to precipitate a complex basic iron sulphate. The zinc sulphate solution may be obtained from leaching iron containing zinc ores. The precipitating agent may be "red mud", the residue obtained from the decomposition of bauxite and may also contain Al2O3 and TiO2 in amounts from 10-20% and 5-10% by wt. respectively.
