Abstract

1364384 Sewing machines KOCHS ADLER AG 5 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 41168/72 Heading D1G A template, engageable by a driven roller for guiding a sewing machine needle 6 along a clamped workpiece 63, comprises a plurality of segments 27, 28, 28', 29, and 59 adjustably mounted on a support plate 21 in two parts 22, 23 joined by a bridging rail 36 for varying the path of the needle. As shown the two parts 22, 23 are secured to a frame 1, and have slots 24, 25 in which are mounted the slotted segments which have threaded holes for bolts 38 holding strips 36, 40 and 55. The follower comprises a roller 14 driven in one sense by a bevel gear 13 and driven in the opposite sense by a bevel gear 16, a coaxial roller 18 and gear wheel 19. The bevel gears 13, 16 are rotated in opposite senses by a third bevel gear 11 driven by a motor 9. An electromagnet 20 holds the follower against the template. The roller 14 engages the segments 27 to 29, the roller 18 engages the segments 59 and the gear 19 engages pivoted toothed sectors 44 for moving the follower out of an inside corner. The motor 11 is reversible for tracking from A to B or vice-versa. The movable sewing machine 5 and the follower are carried by an arm 4, which is pivoted to a link 3, pivoted in turn to an arm 2 mounted on a vertical pivot on the frame 1.
