Abstract

1363258 Cable guides MASCHINENFABRIK SCHARF GmbH 9 Nov 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 52000/71 Heading B7L A guide roller pedestal for the traction cable 3 of a cable-hauled railway, comprises a frame 11 secured by bolts 13 in position alongside the railway track, the frame carrying guide rollers 9, 10 rotatable about horizontal and vertical axes respectively, a closing roller 8 also being provided pivotally mounted in a rocker 14 in turn pivotally mounted on a horizontal pivot in the frame 11, the rocker 14 having a run-up bar 19 thereon whereby in use it may be moved downwardly to allow the passage of a trolley mounted traction arm (not shown) secured to the cable 3, and the medial plane of the roller 8 (X-X) being disposed in relation to the pivot 17 such that pull of the cable 3 against the roller 8 as in the direction of the arrow A will serve to close the roller 8 to its cable guiding position as shown, thus obviating the need for other locking devices for the rocker 14. An auxiliary spring (not shown) acting between the rocker 14 and the frame 11 is provided to raise the rocker against the effects of gravity after the passage of a traction arm to ensure that the cable 3 engages with the roller 8.
