Abstract
1362956 Prostaglandin esters ONO PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 5 Nov 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 51615/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for preparing prostaglandin esters and novel prostaglandin esters, the said process comprising converting the prostaglandins into tertiary amine salts, reacting said amine salts with a pivaloyl halide and treating the resulting mixed acid anhydrides with alcohols, phenols, or 1,5-dihydroxy-naphthalene, in the presence of pyridine, the amount of alcohol, phenol or 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene employed being largely in excess of the equivalent amount required to react with the anhydride. The novel esters are: 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5 - octafluoropentyl PGE 1 , 8- hydroxyoctyl PGE 2 , α-naphthyl PGF 2x , 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl PGA 1 , α-naphthyl PGE 2 , #-naphthyl PGE 2 , 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthyl PGE 2 , p - (1,1,3,3 - tetramethylbutyl)phenyl PGE 2 , 2-propoxyethyl PGE 2 , 2-phenoxyethyl PGE 2 , 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl PGE 2 , 2-(diethylamino)ethyl PGE 2 , 2 - phthalimidoethyl PGE 2 , piperonyl PGE 2 , tetrahydrofurfuryl PGE 2 , 2-pyridylmethyl PGE 2 , 3-pyridylmethyl PGE 2 , 4-hydroxybutyl PGE 2 , 6-hydroxyhexyl PGE 2 glycerol monoester of PGE 2 , 8-ethoxycarbonyloctyl PGE 2 , 9-ethoxycarbonylnonyl PGE 2 , 11-ethoxycarbonylundecyl PGE 2 , tetrahydrofurfuryl PGE 1 , 9-ethoxycarbonylnonyl PGF 2 α, and 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5 - octafluoropentyl PGE 2 .
