Abstract

1362506 Propellants ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 22 Dee 1972 59394/72 Heading C1D A non-metallized solid gun propellant composition comprises a cured mixture of triaminoguanidine nitrate (TAGN) and plasticized nitrocellulose. The TAGN functions as an oxidizer and a coolant. The plasticizer, which is preferably liquid, may be polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, butyl carbitol, diethylene glycol dinitrate, bis-(dinitropropyl )acetal-formal or a mixture of trimethylol ethane trinitrate and triethylene glycol dinitrate. RDX, HMX, or methylene or ethylene dinitramine may be present as a secondary oxidizer, and nitrodiphenylamine or ethyl centralite (with or without resorcinol) as a stabilizer. The composition may be made into non-, mono-, or multi-perforated cylindrical or rosette-shaped grains.
