Abstract

1362431 Disc mills R B REINHALL 16 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 43311/71 Heading B2A A disc mill includes a control system which adjusts the feed in response to charges in the refining gap, and comprises two rotatable discs 26, 28 supported by an axially movable adjustable shaft 12, each disc cooperating with an associated fixed disc 34, 36, each cooperating pair of discs 26, 34 and 28, 36 having its own feed supply 42, 44. Changes in axial position of the shaft are detached by movement of a plate 88 against a nozzle 84, throttling of the nozzle being sensed by a regulator 102 which controls a flap 100 in the feed channel 40. Axial movement may alternatively be detected electrically. The nozzle and its support 82 are arranged on a linkage 90, 94 so as to move only half as much as the fixed discs when these are initially set up by operation of a handwheel 76 and gearing and screw arrangement 72, 74, 78 and 60, 62, 64, 66, 68.
