Abstract

1361915 Supporting boilers WAAGNERBIRO AG 4 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31313/72 Heading F4A In a means for supporting a boiler drum 1 on lateral support members 4 for transmitting to a lower component 5 vertical loads due to the weight of the boiler drum, the drum 1 is provided with abutment members 3 with which the lateral support members engage to permit relative horizontal movement between the drum 1 and the lower component 5, separate coupling means 7 and 8 being provided for taking up horizontal forces between the boiler drum and the lower component 5. The lower component 5 is slidingly mounted on a bearing substructure to permit displacement of the lower component. The bearing substructure consists of a slide plate of polytetrafluoethylene (P.T.F.E.) located in a recess in the lower component 5 and slidable on a stainless steel plate 11. As shown in Fig. 1, the L.H. bearing 15 is rigid and the R.H. bearing is movable. As shown in Fig. 2 a further boiler drum may be carried by the lower boiler drum 1. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the lateral support members 4 are in the form of a stack of laminar sheets (9).
